The Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has paid a working visit to Ghana Airports Company Limited. The purpose of the visit was to inspect some ongoing projects at Kotoka International Airport.

The Minister was taken on a guided tour of the ongoing construction works for the new head office building for Ghana Airports Company Limited, which is scheduled to be completed in 24 months. He was briefed on the scope of work, which includes an 11-storey building with office spaces, multipurpose areas, meeting areas, and conference rooms, among others. He was happy to note the progress of work and entreated the Contractor to complete the project on schedule.

He inspected the repurposing of Terminal 2 to facilitate both domestic and international operations, ease pressure on Terminal 3 and maximize unused spaces within the terminal as part of GACL’s vision to establish Ghana as the preferred aviation hub in West Africa.

When completed, the repurposed Terminal 2 is expected to support increasing passenger traffic and congestion at Terminal 3 during peak hours, putting into full use T2 as Ghana is poised to receive additional airlines to operate from Kotoka International Airport in the months ahead.

Phase one of the repurposing has been completed, and Phase two is underway and scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. This would be a very significant milestone in the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing passenger experience at our airports.

The Minister concluded the visit with an interaction with the staff of GACL.
