The Prime Building Cost Index (PBCI) report by the Ghana Statistical Service has revealed that building inflation has decreased to 4.4% in December 2025, down from 5.9% in November, marking the eighth consecutive month of decline.
The overall prices for building inputs fell slightly by 0.2% between November and December 2025, according to Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, the Government Statistician.
Presenting the report on 28th January 2026 in Accra, Dr. Iddrisu said the “Year-over-year (Y-o-Y) labor inflation declined to 10.7% in December from 12.7% in November, with monthly (M-o-M) labor prices decreasing by 0.9%”.
Effectively, Materials inflation also eased to 2.7% Y-o-Y in December, down from 4.2% in November, with materials prices dropping by 0.1% month-over-month.
The Inflation for plant equipment however, increased slightly to 5.6% Y-o-Y in December from 5.3% in November, with plant prices rising by 1.5% M-o-M.
“Among sub-groups, equipment experienced the highest inflation at 14.9%, while reinforcement had the lowest with a deflation of -7.3%”, he added.
