The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) participated in the launch of the 2025 World Cooperation Industries (WCI) Ghana Forum, organized by the Office of the Commercial Counsellor of the Turkish Embassy, on Wednesday, 28th May 2025, at the Marriott Hotel, Accra. This high-profile business platform brought together government agencies, trade and investment stakeholders, the private sector, and over 50 Turkish companies seeking to explore investment opportunities in Ghana.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of GFZA, the Deputy CEO (Operations), Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, emphasized the strong bilateral ties between Ghana and Türkiye. He highlighted GFZA’s commitment to promoting export-oriented investments through a competitive incentive regime that includes tax holidays and duty exemptions. He also lamented the current absence of Turkish enterprises in Ghana’s Free Zones and encouraged Turkish businesses to capitalize on Ghana’s strategic location and its access to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Other speakers at the event included the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor; President of WCI, Mr. Utku Bengisu; Deputy CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Mr. Abdul Razak Baba; Deputy CEO of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Mr. Iddrisu D. Mahmoud; and Chairman of the AGI Construction Sector, Mr. Rockson Dogbegah.

The Authority used the event as an opportunity to engage export-oriented businesses, particularly Turkish companies, by promoting the Free Zones concept through networking and B2B sessions. GFZA also engaged with stakeholders to foster partnerships aimed at supporting mutual economic growth and shared prosperity.
