The Ghana Revenue Authority met some selected News Editors and senior reporters in Accra to discuss key tax reforms, new tax systems, and the importance of newly launched tax education campaigns Ghana.
The objective was to strengthen collaboration between the GRA and the media, to enhance tax literacy and encouraging citizens to fulfill their tax obligations to support national development. ]
Speaking the Editors’ Forum in Accra, Anthony Sarpong, GRA Commissioner General highlighted the organization’s efforts to improve tax compliance through transparency, accountability, and education.
The event featured discussions on current reforms and initiatives aimed at creating an efficient tax system that promotes voluntary compliance, broadens the tax base, and contributes to Ghana’s economic growth and development.
The engagement aimed to foster a stronger partnership between the GRA and the media, recognizing the critical role journalists play in disseminating information and shaping public opinion on tax matters-modified Taxation Scheme.
By working together, the GRA hopes to increase tax literacy and encourage citizens to fulfill their tax obligations, ultimately contributing to national development.

During the event, some officers of the Authority took turns explaining the current reforms, education programs, and initiatives being implemented to help the government achieve its revenue targets.

The GRA views these sustained national tax education programs as crucial for broadening the tax base and achieving the country’s development goals by raising necessary domestic revenue.
