Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG) report released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has shown that economic activities in Ghana have expended by 3.8% for the month of October, 2025 compared to 3.0% recorded in same month of 2024 .
This indicates a year-on-year growth in output with stronger econonic growth in October 2025 than in October 2024 .
At news conference in Accra, The Government Statistician, Dr.
Alhassan Iddrisu submitted that Agriculture grew by 0.9%, during the same period compared to 2.1% in October 2024.
“This indicates that the increase in economic activity in October 2025 was less pronounced than in the same period Last year.
The sector contributed 13 percent to the overall growth of 3.8% in October 2025.”
According to him the industry sector recorded a growth of 3.0% in October 2025 compared to 0.4% in October 2024., meaning greater expansion in the industry sector compared to the same penod last year, as the sector contributed about 28.7% to the overall growth rate of 3.8% in October 2025.
The Services on the other hand recorded a growth of 5.5% in October 2025 compared to 5.6% in October 2024 .
Dr. Iddrisu mentioned that the current MIEG data shows “continued strong performance in the services sector, driven largely by Communication and Wholesale and Retail Trade sub-sectors”, and that the sector contributed 74. 7% to the overall growth of 3.8%.
The Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG) is a volume index which captures changes in economic activity on a monthly basis.
The MIEG is published at an aggregate level for the whole economy, as well as for agriculture, industry and services.
The MIEG for October 2025 is provisional and subject to revision when more comprehensive and updated data becomes available.
The MIEG is initially classed as an experimental statistic, meaning it will be subject to continuous improvement.
