Speaking during a courtesy call by UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Niloy Banerjee, and his delegation at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Ampem reaffirmed the Government’s strong commitment to its longstanding partnership with the UN development agency.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the strong alignment between UNDP’s interventions and the Government’s 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, noting that this synergy is essential as the country advances its post-COVID-19 recovery and medium-term development priorities.

He commended UNDP for its joint efforts in supporting Ghana’s Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF) and in strengthening the country’s resilience and access to climate finance.

“We recognize UNDP as a thought leader and strategic partner and acknowledge the value of the organization’s support in bridging financial gaps and advancing economic development” he said.

$60 Million UNDP Investment Praised

Mr. Ampem acknowledged UNDP’s significant financial contributions to Ghana’s development. Over the past five years, the agency has disbursed more than $60 million to support initiatives spanning governance, youth employment, climate action, and digital innovation.

“UNDP has been instrumental in supporting a broad range of development initiatives, including sustainable finance and capacity building,” he said. “We appreciate the consistent commitment and leadership demonstrated by UNDP in helping Ghana realize its national aspirations.”

While commending the UNDP for its steadfast commitment to Ghana’s development, he noted that any additional support to enhance the country’s revenue mobilization efforts would be highly welcomed.

Key highlights of UNDP’s support include its contributions to the Integrated National Financing Framework, assistance in developing a climate finance strategy, and the SDG Investor Map, which identifies private sector investment opportunities in critical sectors such as agriculture and infrastructure.

UNDP Reaffirms Support for Ghana’s Development Agenda

The UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Niloy Banerjee, commended the Government of Ghana for the transformative economic measures it has adopted. He reaffirmed the UNDP’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s development agenda and pledged to explore opportunities to expand and deepen existing areas of collaboration.

Mr. Banerjee also expressed UNDP’s readiness to assist the Government in its debt restructuring efforts and emphasized ongoing cooperation under the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023–2025. The framework supports key national priorities, including governance, climate resilience, and inclusive economic growth.
