Your life, dating back to your formative years at the University of Cape Coast, has been a masterclass in the intersection of education and activism.
Long before you held the high offices of state, your service as President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) defined you as a leader willing to fight for organization and justice. This initial commitment to the youth movement and organized labour, culminating in your work as Secretary for the Trades Union Congress (TUC), established the revolutionary fire that has sustained you across decades of political turbulence.
The true testament to your character, however, lies in your remarkable tenure as Secretary and Minister for Information, spanning sixteen unbroken years from 1985 to 2001. This longevity is an unparalleled demonstration of trust and political fortitude.
During that critical period, encompassing the PNDC military government and the formative years of the NDC’s democratic rule, your role was not merely administrative; it was the indispensable defense of the mission.
You were the institutional anchor who guaranteed the stability and continuity of our ideological project, proving that political reliability was, and remains, the ultimate currency in state-building.
We, the next generation of loyalists, often discuss how your deliberate and stand-offish disposition shielded you from the transient temptations of public politics, allowing you to focus on strategic execution.
