Afife Senior High Technical School has entered a decisive new chapter.
Yesterday, the Board Chairman of GETFund, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, together with the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, led a sod cutting ceremony for major infrastructure development at the school.
The projects include a two storey boys’ dormitory with a courtyard and a bungalow for the housemaster, a two storey girls’ dormitory with a courtyard and a bungalow for the housemistress, a two storey administration and library block, and a 24 seater toilet facility.
Beyond these new projects, concrete steps have been taken to complete the abandoned 12 unit classroom block that was started in 2015. This alone signals a clear break from the cycle of neglect that has plagued the school for years.
These interventions will breathe new life into Afife Senior High Technical School, which has struggled with severe infrastructure deficits since its establishment.
In his address, Hon Bedzrah acknowledged the difficult conditions under which the school has operated. He went further to personally commit to adopting the school and ensuring the completion of all ongoing projects. He also pledged to actively pursue funding for a dining hall and kitchen facility to fully support the school’s growth.
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon James Gunu, assured the gathering that all projects would be completed within one year. He emphasised that the practice of starting projects and abandoning them has no place under the current administration.
The Chiefs and people of Afife expressed their profound appreciation to GETFund for these long overdue interventions, describing the projects as timely, transformative, and critical to the future of the school.
