The Ghana Tourism Authority has launched a Project dubbed “16×16” to bring the FIFA World Cup closer to every Ghanaian, regardless of location or economic status.

The project involves setting up free, high-quality public viewing centers in all 16 Regions of Ghana, where citizens can come together to watch live matches, celebrate, and connect throughout the World Cup Season to be hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.

At the launch, Maame Efua Houadjeto, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), emphasized that the initiative is not just about football, but about tourism, community, engagement, identity, and economic stimulation, stressing that, “We are turning every Region into a hub of activity where sports meets culture, where local businesses thrive, and where Ghana tells her story to herself and to the world”.

The project is a collaboration with Tribe Cultural Fest and the Embassies of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Ghana, and is expected to stimulate local economies and promote cultural exchange.
The CEO in her address encouraged every Ghanaian to take ownership of the project, support local vendors, and celebrate responsibly.
“Let’s show the world that Ghana does not only participate in global events, we activate them, localize them, and maximize them for national development,” she said.
