Torgbui Nuwordu, an 89-year-old, Traditional Priest at Mama Vena Shrine, Ablotivia in the Klikor Traditional Area, has been crowned overall Best Farmer in the Ketu South Municipality in a grand celebration District Farmer’s Day.
The prestigious award was presented at the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration, held at Agbozume Logove A M.E. Zion School park on November 27, 2025.
The event, themed “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” recognized the outstanding contributions of nine hardworking farmers across the municipality.
Torgbui Nuwordu, with over 60 years of farming experience, took home an impressive array of prizes, including a tricycle, cutlasses, wellington boots, herbicides, insecticides, fertilizers, and a flat-screen TV.
In his acceptance speech, the elderly farmer urged the youth to take farming seriously, emphasizing its importance in securing Ghana’s future.
Other notable winners included Felix Ahiable, best youth farmer; Kwabla Zotoo, best farmer with disability; and Favour Amevor, best crop farmer.
The celebration was attended by dignitaries, including the MCE Nicholas Kwabla Worklatsi, Ghana Ambassador to Togo Captain RTD Nfodjo, and security agencies.
The event highlighted the crucial role of farmers in Ghana’s development and encouraged mechanized farming practices.
