The German Member of Parliament (MP) for Frankfurt Am Main and a member of the committee on finance and digital affairs at Bundestag, Hon. Armand Zorn, has paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness & Industry on Friday, August 1st,2025, in Accra.
The Deputy Minister, Hon. Sampson Ahi, on behalf of the sector Minister Hon. Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu- Adjare, received the MP and the German Ambassador to Ghana H.E Frederik Landshoft.
Hon. Ahi, in his remarks, reiterated the government’s resolve to review the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act to
help address challenges relating to investment, boost foreign direct investment, and make it more robust while aligning with current trends.
He said Ghana is also an important trading partner to Germany, adding that trade relations
between the two countries have also strengthened and called for increased partnership to, among others, support local artisans and Agripreneurs.
Also, the Deputy Minister encouraged African countries to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area ( AFCFTA) and trade among themselves to create the required jobs and wealth for their citizens, especially with over 1.3 billion people across 55 countries on the continent.
The German MP, in response, acknowledged the current intervention being made by the
government to improve the ease of doing business in Ghana, foster closer collaboration, and asked that the government enhance its support for German companies, including capital
requirement and local content while stressing that there is an urgent need for stronger business
partnership, Joint Ventures to facilitate trade, enhance growth, and increase investment at all levels.
” We appreciate all the reforms that the government is doing, we are very much happy with that,” he concluded.
