The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment on Monday 10th November 2025, officially inaugurated its Ministerial Advisory Board, marking a significant step towards advancing youth-centered policies and initiatives in Ghana.
At a brief ceremony held in the conference room of the Ministry, the sector Minister, Hon. George Opare Addo administered both the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy to the newly appointed members of the Board.
In his address, the Minister underscored the importance of the Advisory Board, cautioning members not to regard it as “just another board” formed to fulfil statutory obligations. Instead, he emphasized that the Board’s mandate is rooted in law and carries a profound responsibility to shape policies and programs that directly impact the lives of Ghana’s youth.
The Minister reminded the members that Ghana’s youth constitute the majority of the population, making their empowerment central to the nation’s development agenda. He urged the members of the Board to bring forward innovative ideas, practical strategies, and actionable recommendations that will create opportunities for young people in areas such as education, skills training, entrepreneurship civic participation among others.
He further noted that the Advisory Board must serve as a think tank for the Ministry, providing guidance that ensures government interventions remain relevant, inclusive, and impactful stressing that the Board must not be ceremonial but be a platform where bold, forward-looking ideas are generated to secure the future of the youth.
The inauguration concluded with a sense of commitment from the Board members, who pledged to work diligently with the Ministry to deliver on its mandate. Their collective expertise and dedication are expected to strengthen the Ministry’s efforts in designing and implementing policies that empower Ghana’s youth to thrive in an increasingly competitive global environment.
The establishment of the Ministerial Advisory Board signals a new chapter in youth development and empowerment, one that places young people at the heart of national progress.
The newly constituted Board has the following members; Hon. George Opare Addo as Chairman, Mrs. Emma Ofori Agyemang, Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth Development & Empowerment, Mr. Hamidu Adakurugu (esq), Chief Director of the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, Prof. George K.T. Oduro, Technical Advisor to the Hon. Minister of Education, Ms. Faustina Acheampong, Director of the Department of Gender at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Mr. Sherif Ghali, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs.
The rest are Ms. Betty Simawua Annan, Country Director of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, Mr. Nii Dodoo Dodoo, Country Director for Hub British Council and Ms. Esi Mansa Oklu, Director of General Administration at the Ministry of Youth Development & Empowerment as the Secretary to the Board.
