NADMO has convened the First Quarter meeting of the Livelihoods, Food and Nutrition Security in Emergencies (LFSiE) Technical Working Group at its headquarters in Accra
The meeting focused on strengthening coordinated disaster response and recovery by sharing updates on major disasters from 2025 to date, reviewing recovery interventions by key institutions, and contributing to the development of a comprehensive livelihoods needs assessment tool to guide future planning and evidence-based interventions nationwide.
The Director General of NADMO, Major Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon (Rtd), urged stakeholders to reflect on lessons learned from last year’s disasters and critically evaluate their collective performance.
He emphasised the need for improved preparedness, particularly as the country anticipates the peak of the flood season.
“We must draw practical lessons from our experiences and sharpen our response strategies to better protect lives and livelihoods,” he stated.
Mr. Dominique Reumkens, Resilience Specialist and representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), reaffirmed FAO’s commitment to sustained collaboration with NADMO and its partners.
“FAO is committed to building on these ongoing collaborations and engagements to support Ghana in strengthening resilient livelihoods and agri-food systems, thereby ensuring food and nutrition security for all Ghanaians,” he noted.
The two-day meeting brought together representatives from key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), relevant United Nations agencies, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Farmer-Based Organisations (FBOs), financial institutions and private sector actors who form part of the LFSiE Technical Working Group.
