Security has been significantly reinforced at Parliament ahead of the upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA) slated for Friday, 27th February, 2026 by the President of the Republic.
Personnel from the national security agencies were deployed early around the Parliamentary precinct to ensure strict access control and maintain order before, during, and after the address.
Vehicular movement around the area has also been restricted, with motorists advised to use alternative routes.
The heightened security measures are part of standard protocol to safeguard Members of Parliament, invited dignitaries, diplomats, and members of the public attending the event.
The State of the Nation Address, delivered in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, provides the President with the platform to outline government policies, achievements, and the roadmap for the year ahead.
Officials indicated that only accredited persons with valid identification would be granted access to the Chamber and surrounding areas. Media personnel are also required to undergo security screening before entry.
