The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) is in Jamaica for a two-day official and solidarity visit at the invitation of the Government of Jamaica.

The Minister is expected to interact with the Ghanaian military personnel deployed to Jamaica in support of post-disaster reconstruction efforts following Hurricane Melissa. The troops have been assisting with rebuilding efforts over the past six weeks. During his interaction with the personnel , the Minister will convey a message from the President of the Republic of Ghana and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
The Honourable Minister will hold bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister of Jamaica, His Excellency Andrew Holness on matters of mutual interest, including the strengthening of bilateral relations, among others between Ghana and Jamaica.
Members of the delegation for the visit include the Deputy Minister for Defence, Honourable Ernest Brogya Genfi; the Presidential Special Envoy to the Caribbean, His Excellency Kwasi Kyei Darkwah; the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence K. S. Gbetanu; senior military officers; and Directors from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Education and Health.
The visit underscores the enduring historical ties between the two countries.
