The Management of the 37 Military Hospital has expressed its satisfaction with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) over significant improvements in claims processing and prompt reimbursement.

This was disclosed during a courtesy call by the hospital’s management team to the NHIA Head Office in Accra.
Speaking during the visit, the Acting Deputy Chief of Staff Medical and Commander of the 37 Military Hospital, Brigadier General Evelyn Vivian Abraham-Kwabiah, said the visit was to officially thank the NHIA for its efficiency in settling claims.

“We are very happy because we have seen a remarkable improvement in the claims processing and reimbursement. Our finance department currently does not have any outstanding claims payments,” she noted.

Responding, the NHIA’s Chief Executive, Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, welcomed the commendation and attributed the improvement to strong leadership, government support, and reforms within the health insurance system.
“We are grateful that you have noticed the change. This progress is due to leadership, vision, and the uncapping of the National Health Insurance Fund, which brought in about GH¢3.4 billion more last year,” he said.

Dr. Bampoe added that the reforms have boosted public confidence in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), leading to increased enrollment.
“For the first time in our history, by the end of 2025, about 22.3 million people had registered, representing 66 percent of active members,” he stated.

He further explained that the NHIA is working to support the President’s vision of end-to-end healthcare coverage, encompassing Free Primary Healthcare, the NHIS, and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

The NHIA’s Deputy Chief Executive for Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Raphael Segkpeb, described the feedback from the 37 Military Hospital as encouraging.
“Claims payment is at the core of what we do, and it is refreshing to hear that providers are experiencing a positive change. We expect that prompt payments will translate into better service delivery for NHIS cardholders,” he said.

On her part, the Deputy Chief Executive for Finance and Investment, Ms. Anatu Anne Seidu Bogobiri, emphasised the Authority’s commitment to timely reimbursements.
“There are times we reimburse claims up to three times within a month,” she revealed.

The Ag. Director of the Operations Directorate, Mrs. Musah Mariam Alhassan, called on the hospital to support ongoing reforms at the NHIA, noting that collaboration with healthcare providers is crucial to the success of the initiatives.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director of the Accra Claims Processing Centre, Ms. Oforiwaa Portuphy, expressed satisfaction that her team’s efforts are yielding visible results.
“We are happy that the hard work toward prompt claims payment is being felt on the ground and acknowledged,” she said.
The visit reaffirmed the growing collaboration between the NHIA and healthcare providers to strengthen Ghana’s health insurance system and enhance service delivery across the country, and was moderated by the Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Oswald Essuah-Mensah.
