The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu North, Rev. Martin Amenaki, recently visited three ICT training centers hosting the Girls in ICT workshops within the municipality. The visits took place at Dzodze Training Center, Dekpor Basic School, and Ohawu Basic School.

These centers are part of a regional initiative to empower 1,000 girls across the Volta Region with essential digital skills. Launched in 2012 under the leadership of former President John Dramani Mahama, the Girls in ICT program continues to promote digital inclusion and bridge the gender gap in the technology sector by providing annual ICT training to young girls in various regions.

During his visits, Rev. Amenaki engaged with the participating girls, encouraging them to maximize this valuable opportunity. He emphasized the importance of ICT in today’s world, highlighting its role in education, the economy, and everyday life. He also noted that access to computers, the internet, and skilled instructors remains a rare privilege in many basic schools, urging the girls to see this initiative as a potential turning point in their academic and professional futures.

Rev. Amenaki expressed admiration for the enthusiasm and competence displayed by the students, praising the dedication of the teachers and facilitators at each center. As the regional phase concludes, 100 outstanding girls will be selected for advanced training in Ho, receiving laptops to support their ongoing learning.

He expressed hope that many girls from Ketu North will be among those chosen and reiterated the need for continued support and resource allocation to expand the program’s reach and impact.
