Apologize and compensate people of Bawku – MPs demand

Members of Parliament from six (6) constituencies in the Upper West Region of have demanded an unqualified apology and due compensation from the Ghana Armed Force (GAF) for that they termed as the unwanted attack on the people.

According to the group on 13th July, 2025, an unknown assailant attacked a military convoy by shooting into one of their vehicles, thus causing an accident to them injuring some men. This they maintained in seven (7) the military who rather went on rampage in the Bawku township, shooting six (6) people and injuring many others.

The military also destroyed the statue of their overlord setting it ablaze. The group maintained that much as they contemn the attack on the military convoy, they also cannot accept the attack on the people and the destruction made. This they referred to as unfortunate and unwanted.

They subsequently called for an unqualified apology from the military to the people and demanded an appropriate compensation for the people and an immediate replacement of their overlord statue.

As to what action they may take, should the military fair to comply with their demand they maintained that when they come to the bride they will cross it.
