On his first day in office as the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Edem Agbana made a bold declaration to invest in the future of the region’s youth. Agbana, who assumed office with a strong commitment to education and youth development, introduced the Ketu North (Edem Agbana Scholarship Scheme)—a transformative initiative designed to ease the financial burden of tertiary education for deserving students in Ketu North.

In his speech, Agbana emphasized the importance of this initiative: “On my very first day in office as Member of Parliament, we made a bold and unwavering commitment to invest in the future of our young people. Without hesitation, we announced the Ketu North Scholar Scholarship Scheme; a transformative initiative aimed at easing the financial burden of tertiary education for deserving students from Ketu North.”

The scholarship scheme, following a thorough review of 947 applications, has shortlisted 300 outstanding students from 35 tertiary institutions to receive financial support. The funding will cover between 60% and 100% of their tuition fees.

Agbana further announced that the maiden scholarship award ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Municipal Assembly Hall. During the ceremony, the scheme will officially be launched, and the first cohort of beneficiaries will be unveiled. The ceremony will also provide details about the selection criteria, the source of funding, and the long-term sustainability plans for the initiative.

“Education is the foundation of progress,” Agbana stated. “Through this scholarship scheme, we are reaffirming our commitment to creating opportunities, breaking barriers, and building a brighter future for Ketu North.”
