The Energy Commission hosted its 3rd Board-Stakeholder Engagement at its NZEB Auditorium, bringing together key players in the energy efficiency industry, particularly dealers in new electrical home appliances, for an open and forward-looking conversation on enforcement and compliance.
The atmosphere was one of collaboration and shared purpose as the Ag Executive Secretary, Mrs. Eunice Biritwum, warmly welcomed participants and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to working closely with stakeholders to advance Ghana’s energy efficiency agenda.
In his address, the Board Chairman, Prof. John Gartchie Gatsi, delivered a powerful reminder of responsibility and impact. He emphasized that the work of stakeholders directly affects electricity bills and national energy consumption.
He called for intensified inspectorate activities, reaffirmed the Commission’s resolve to fully enforce the law, and encouraged internal conflict resolution, assuring stakeholders of his availability to ensure fairness and transparency.
An insightful presentation followed, clearly outlining stakeholder duties and compliance requirements, with full guidelines and petition procedures made available on the Energy Commission’s website. The interactive session that followed allowed participants to freely engage, with questions thoroughly addressed by both the Board Chairman, the Executive Secretary and Senior Officers of rhe Commission, deepening clarity and trust.
Stakeholders expressed strong satisfaction with the Energy Commission’s work, commending the bold enforcement of long-standing regulations and describing Ghana’s energy efficiency policies as high-standard and future-focused.
They called for broader public awareness, a suggestion the Board Chairman welcomed with a commitment to support funding for expanded sensitization on new Regulations for some 21 electrical appliances, before the enforcement of those regulations.
The dialogue at the NZEB became a decisive action for a more energy-efficient Ghana.
