The Attorney General Department has officially brought criminal charges against Solomon Asamoah-1st Accused, a former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) between 2017 and 2024, and Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi- 2nd Accused, a former Minister who chaired the GIIF’s governing board from 2017 to 2021.
The Department accused the two of dishonestly causing the state financial loss in connection with the Accra Sky Train Project, contrary to Section 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
The charge sheet signed by the A-G, Dominic Akuritinga Ayine dated 12 day of May, 2025 in respect to particulars of offence reads: SOLOMON ASAMOAH and PROF CHRISTOPHER AMEYAW-AKUMFI, that you, in February 2019, in Accra and within the jurisdiction of this Court, did agree to act together with a common purpose to willfully cause financial loss in the sum of Two Million United States of American dollars (US$ 2,000,000.00) to the Republic by causing, without authorization, the said amount belonging to the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) and the Republic to be paid to the Africa Investor Holdings Limited purportedly for the building of an urban sky train system in Accra which system was never build”…….
