The Government of Ghana has officially announced a state funeral to honor the eight individuals who tragically lost their lives in recent circumstances that have deeply touched the nation.
The “Departed Eight,” as they have come to be known, include prominent community leaders, volunteers, and ordinary citizens whose sacrifices and contributions have left an indelible mark on the fabric of Ghanaian society. Their passing has evoked a wave of grief across the country, prompting reflections on unity, resilience, and the spirit of Ghanaian solidarity. The government has scheduled the state funeral for Saturday at the Black Stars Square in Accra on Friday agust 15 from 8 am am.
Confirmed Dead Dr Edward Omane Boamah – Minister for Defence, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed – Minister for Environment, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr Samuel Sarpong – Vice Chairman, NDC, and Mr Samuel Aboagye – Former Parliamentary candidate
The rest are: Squadron leader Peter, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo
