The Member of Parliament for Keta, Hon. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, in partnership with Soloko Ghana Concepts Limited, has launched a Leather Craft Production Training Programme aimed at positioning Keta as a hub for high-quality leather products that meet international standards.
As part of the initiative, Bourbon Rémy, a German-French luxury leather expert with over 47 years of professional experience, will lead the training, sharing his expertise and transferring practical skills to the youth of Keta. The programme is expected to empower young people with employable skills while opening new economic opportunities within the constituency.
This initiative builds on his previous collaborations, showcasing potential for economic growth in the Volta Region, and aims to equip youth for free with practical skills and job creation.
In his address, Mr. Gakpey called on the youth especially the Boys to take the three week training seriously as he encouraged them acquire skills for sustainable jobs.
On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive of Keta, Wisdom Seade; pledged the assembly’s support for the Centre and promised to make the youth available to be trained for tomorrow.
On behalf of Soloko Ghana Concepts Limited, the Executive Director, Mr. Patrick Avumegah emphasized that although the international expert will be in Keta for only three weeks, a dedicated 24-hour Starlink satellite communication system has been installed at Dorveme, where the workshop is located.
This facility will enable Keta’s youth to remain connected to global networks of experts for continuous access to design support, innovation, and modern production techniques.
In related development, the MP together with Municipality participated in a sod-cutting ceremonies for the construction of an Early Childhood Development Centre at Anlo State School, Abutiakope; a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at R.C. Basic School, Anlo Afiadenyigba; and a CHPS Compound at Tengekope all in the Keta Constituency.
In attendance were the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu,the Municipal Chief Executive, Wisdom Seade; chiefs and traditional leaders; NDC constituency and branch executives; officers of the Municipal Assembly; teachers; schoolchildren; and members of the beneficiary communities.
These projects according to the MP reflect the commitment of H.E.John Dramani Mahama to expanding essential social infrastructure across the country, and our unwavering support for their successful implementation for the benefit of our people.
