The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has stirred very disturbing controversy on the floor of Parliament while debating the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the Government presented by the Minister of Finance.
The Minister who also doubles as MP for Banda in Bono Region on feet on that faithful day sought to know about the whereabout of the Former NPP Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, this question has generated a lot of anymocity and rancour, thereby attracting series of interjections from the Minority who felt that Mr. Ahmed was spoking fun at illiness of the former Minister.
According to the Minority Leader, Osahene Alexander Afenyo Markin, the former Minister responsible for Finance had records of his illness made public, and that it was no longer a hidden secret.
The Majority Leader and leader of Government Business, Mahama Ayariga, on the other hand, hinted that the Former Minister showed signs of illness while he was in Ghana as a Minister of State.
This situation he said, even compiled some of his own colleagues, about 92 NPP MPs ask for his sack by the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo.
Sticking to his gun, Ahmed Ibrahim insisted that previous Ministers of Finance in the Fourth Republic had always remained in Ghana after their tenure of office.
He therefore could not phantom why Ken Ofori-Atta should be out of the Country after his tenure of office.
He therefore, called for his repatriation from his present abode to Ghana to account for his stewardship.
