Six candidates, including the late MP’s widow, Hajia Amina Adam, have picked up nomination forms to contest the Ayawaso East by-election, scheduled for March 3, 2026.
The other candidates are Mohammed Ramne, Mohammed Abdul Salam, Yakubu Azindow, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, and Najib Mohammed Sani.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will hold its parliamentary primary on February 7, 2026, to select its candidate.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has set nomination dates from February 9 to 11, 2026, with a filing fee of GH¢10,000, reduced to GH¢7,500 for female candidates and persons with disabilities.
