The larger opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has commenced a process to expel the former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, after he slammed the party as “fake” in a TV interview.
Professor Frimpong-Boateng made the comments on Accra based Channel One TV’s The Point of View with Bernard Avle, stating the current NPP doesn’t reflect the values of the party he once knew.
He also distanced himself from the party, saying, “Not the fake one. The real one is there, it’s virtual, and the members are in the background”.
Additionally, he warned that re-electing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer would be a “trainwreck” for the NPP.
The NPP has rejected Professor Frimpong-Boateng’s allegations, describing them as “baseless and unsubstantiated”, and insists the 2023 presidential primary was free, fair, and credible.
The party views his comments as damaging to its unity and integrity.
