The second State of the Nation Address delivered by President John Dramani Mahama since coming to Office last year saw an interesting phenomenon.
Whereas Members of the Majority were dressed in all white outfits possibly symbolizing the hearing of good news and victory, the Minority on the other hand, dressed in black, possibly symbolizing mourning and grief in the Chamber.
Visible from the Press Galery, the White-Majority have dominated the Chamber singing positive songs, whereas the Black-Minority as usual have occupied a ‘pizza size’ corner singing war sounds.
The combination of the tunes-Praise and Dirge – constituted a cacophony of noise emanating from the August House on this special occasion of national importance.
In melee of this, The Majority shouted “Ofori Ata is missing”, where is Akuffo Addo and the Minority also held shouting ‘Yes Cocoa’, holding fresh Cocoa pods.
All these took place where waiting forbtge arrival of the President.
When the president arrived, the national anthem was played, and after that, the Minority sang repeatedly the last stanza of the anthem, “and help us to resist oppressors’ rules…..”.
The majority also responded by singing “the 24hr Economy sound”, asem pa na ba o”.
