Members of Parliament are expected in the Chamber later today Tuesday, October 21, 2025, for the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic to commence public business.

The Parliamentary sitting is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Parliament House in Accra, following an official notice issued by the Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin in Accra.

“Pursuant to the notice to defer the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic dated October 6, 2025, I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, pursuant to Order 58, give notice that the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic shall now commence on Tuesday, the 21st day of October 2025, at 1400 hours at Parliament House, Accra,” it said.

This follows an earlier notice dated October 6, 2025, which deferred the original commencement date from Tuesday, October 14, to today, October 21.

As lawmakers return to the chamber for the third and final meeting of the parliamentary calendar year, the 2026 Budget, key national issues, critical bills, and other major legislation and fiscal policies that will shape Ghana’s economic direction are expected to be tabled for consideration and approval.

In addition to the reopening of the House, two newly elected Members of Parliament on the ticket of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC)—Bernard Bediako Baidoo for Akwatia and Professor Alidu Seidu for Tamale Central—are expected to be sworn in.

Their swearing-in will restore full representation for the two constituencies and ensure an absolute majority status for the NDC.
