Leader and founder of Seventh Day Theocratic World Congregation, Apostle Dr. Kadmiel E. H. Agbalenyoh has decried the rising spate of expensive marriages in the country.
He noted that this unfortunate situation has resulted in the youth shying away from marriage. Also, the situation leads to early break-ups of marriages. He has subsequently advocated for simpler and less expensive marriage rites so as to make marriage attractive to the youth.
The Apostle made this advocacy during a meeting with the youth of the church last Saturday night (21/03/26). He was quick to point out that marriage rights in the Church had been made so simple that it is catching on well with marriage birds.
He wondered why some marriage birds have to travel as far as to Dubai only to buy expensive splashing wedding gowns, which can be worn only on Wedding Day. “Now, there is bomb in Dubai. So go there and buy your wedding gowns!” he said jovially to his listeners, attracting laughter.
Apostle Agbalenyoh suggested that in order to make marriage less costly and attractive to the youth in the church, Parents of the to-be weds should be contacted to deliberate on the intended wedding between their wards.
He further suggested that in this regard, the church should be involved, so that it would be sewn by the church for the ceremony. In this regard, a simple venue can be acquired to beat down cost. The Apostle opined that in such a case only a handful of well-wishers could be invited as against those ones which are blown out of proportion, and thereby attracting overwhelming numbers.
Don’t be Offensive With Your Degree
The discussion also touched on professions and degrees acquired by the youth from their respective tertiary institutions.
He charged them against going offensive on others because of their acquired degrees and professions, stressing that degrees and professions cannot achieve everything for them.
The Apostle urged the youth in the church especially, to be humble and respectful to their pastors who may not have degrees.
