In a momentous achievement for Ghana, the University of Development Studies (UDS) emerged victorious at the 2025 FISU Universities World Football Championship, bringing pride and glory to the nation. Kofi Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, led the victorious team to Jubilee House, symbolizing the nation’s celebration of this remarkable feat.
The Minister congratulated UDS for their exceptional performance, emphasizing that their success reflects the immense talent present within Ghana’s youth. “This victory makes Ghana proud on the global stage,” he said, urging the team to maintain their dedication and continue to excel.
In a move to bolster youth sports development, the Ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, announced plans to establish the Schools and Colleges Sports Authority. This initiative aims to nurture and develop sports talents from educational institutions nationwide.
Taking a moment to celebrate other national successes, the Minister congratulated the Black Starlets for qualifying for the upcoming Under-17 African Cup of Nations in Morocco next year.
He also urged the senior national team, the Black Stars, to secure victories in upcoming matches on days 9 and 10 to ensure their qualification for the World Cup, inspiring hope and unity among Ghanaians.
This victory and the broader call for investment in youth sports underscore Ghana’s bright future in international football and the potential to harness young talent for national pride.
