The minister for health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh embarked on a working visit to the Savannah Region to inspect potential sites for the construction of the Savannah Regional Hospital at Damongo, and the new district hospital at Bole.
During his tour, the Savannah regional minister, Hon Sualesu Biawuribe led the minister to pay a courtesy visits to the Yagbonwura and Bolewura, engaging with local leaders on development issues pertaining to their communities.
He also spent some time to meet with the District Chief Executives (DCEs) at the Regional Coordinating Counsel(RCC) to discuss district development.
On the importance of equal access to healthcare by all Ghanaian, the minister justified the need for the initiative by government to post Doctors and Specialists to the districts where their services are needed most. However, he encouraged the regional minister and the DCEs to get incentive packages for the doctors who accept postings to their districts to serve as a motivation.
Additionally, he visited the Bole District Hospital, and the Bole Nursing and Midwifery Training College. The students couldn’t hide their excitement when the minister assured them of the good policy initiatives by the NDC government that is aimed at making health education attractive including the “no stress fee policy” for first-year tertiary students.
The students’ joy knew no bounds as they reveled in sheer happiness.
