Ghana, Japan Strengthen ties ahead of Osaka Expo 2025

Ghana and Japan have deepened their bilateral cooperation in preparation for the Osaka Expo 2025, with a high-level meeting held at the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation yesterday.

The Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), welcomed a Japanese Embassy team led by Ambassador Hiroshi Yoshimoto discussed concrete agreements in key areas such as ICT, AI, education, fintech, and telecoms.

“We aim to sign meaningful agreements that will drive growth and development in these critical sectors”, Hon. George emphasized.

The Japanese officials welcomed the collaboration, highlighting growing interest in social impact projects like climate tech, productivity solutions and early childhood education. Both sides committed to strategic planning, information-sharing, and matchmaking between Ghanaian and Japanese firms.

The Osaka Expo 2025 is expected to attract investment, promote cultural exchange and drive economic growth.

Ghana’s Participation:

  1. Strong delegation of government officials and private sector players to Japan in September 2025 led by Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP).
  2. President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to attend TICAD Summit in August
