“I proposed that we formally engage the Presidency on three key priorities: the Keta Harbour Project, the establishment of the Ho Aviation Training School, and Agricultural mechanisation”, these are promising words from the Volta Regional Representative on the Council of State, Dr. Gabriel Kwamigah Atokple when he had the privilege to address the Volta Regional House of Chiefs during their General Meeting, alongside the Regional Minister, all MMDCEs, and some key citizens of our region.
According to Dr. Atokple, these initiatives if executed will reposition the Volta Region for growth, investment, and job creation especially for the youth.
The Team reflected on other urgent needs to strengthen collaboration between traditional leadership and government to drive development.
Together; Chief Tanko welcomed the President’s commitment through Okudzeto Ablakwa for the $30 million Chinese grant to be used for an ultra-modern market in Aflao; “a clear sign that this very time and season is promise and delivery”.
Most notably, “our Chiefs made a powerful and united statement on the continued neglect of the Region, especially the long-abandoned Eastern Corridor Road and other stalled projects, he said.
They called out successive governments and affirmed their resolve to demand results and ” I share this resolve fully. As a representative at Council of State, together with the regional minister, we will continue to push, at the highest level, for what is due our region. With unity, strategy, and a clear voice, I believe we can achieve the economic autonomy and dignity the Volta Region deserves”.
