The increasing support for Mahama Care through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Ghana is a welcome trend that necessitates corporate involvement.

Companies such as Coca-Cola, Unilever, MTN Foundation, and Johnson and Johnson contribute to government healthcare programs.

Governments should encourage companies to allocate a reasonable percentage of their CSR to support Mahama Care, a state initiative for chronic diseases.

As CSR activities are tax-deductible, they provide tax benefits, which should incentivize companies to prioritize Mahama Care, thereby assisting those with chronic diseases.

The MTN Ghana Foundation has spent over $13 million on CSR projects, including healthcare.

Similarly, the GNPC Foundation supports healthcare projects. Prioritizing Mahama Care in CSR plans is vital.

The President’s call should resonate with company leaders to support Mahama Care, making a difference in the lives of millions of Ghanaians with chronic health conditions.

Board chairpersons of both Ghanaian-owned and multinational companies operating in Ghana should be moved by the call.

This should trigger humanitarian consciousness among all CEOs and CSR committees of companies to make significant annual contributions to support and sustain the fund.

It is crucial not to politicize this laudable initiative, as chronic illnesses transcend political affiliations.
