African Union Extends Reparations Theme for a Decade, Ghana to Lead as Champion (2026-2036)

The African Union has passed a consequential resolution extending the theme of the year on Reparations by a decade, from 2026 to 2036, with Ghana expected to lead as the Champion.

“Congratulations to President John Mahama for the confidence reposed in me by the 55-country continental union, from 2026 to 2036, with Ghana expected to lead”.

According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, he also completed his task as Chair of the Ministerial Committee on Agenda 2063. The South African Foreign Minister is expected to take over from him.

The 2026 AU Budget and SACA report have all been approved.
