The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has held the Second Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the 9th Assembly.
The meeting, which took place on Friday, 24th October 2025, at the Omanye Aba Hall, was attended by Assembly Members and Departmental Heads.
Chaired by the Presiding Member, Hon. Musah Ziyad, the meeting focused on critical plans for the metropolis’s development in the coming year. The agenda, as outlined in the pre-meeting summons, included several key items central to the city’s governance.
A major highlight was the presentation and subsequent approval of the 2026 Composite Budget, which will serve as the Assembly’s financial blueprint for the upcoming fiscal year. Alongside this, members also deliberated on and approved the 2026 Annual Action Plan, which details the specific projects and initiatives to be undertaken.
In a move to bolster its Internally Generated Funds (IGF), the Assembly also considered and gave approval to the 2026 Fee-Fixing Resolution, a crucial measure aimed at revenue improvement.
Further to these approvals, the meeting featured a presentation by the Head of Planning at the AMA, Mr. Richard Kwame Oduro, providing an update on the status of the Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) preparation.
This strategic document is expected to guide the medium-term development direction of Accra, aligning with the broader goal of “Making Accra a Smart, Safe, and Climate-Resilient City that offers decent jobs and shared prosperity for all residents.”
