Foreign Affairs Minister receives Seven Open Letters

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), on Tuesday, 16th September, 2025 received Open Letters from seven resident Envoys from the Republic of Sudan, Kingdom of Denmark, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, European Union, Kingdom of Norway, and the Republic of Egypt.

The Honourable Minister congratulated the Envoys on their new positions and wished them a successful tour of duty.

In his interaction with the Ambassador-designate from the Republic of Sudan, His Excellency Mr. Gariballa Khidir Ali, the Honourable Minister recalled the relations between the two countries, the role played by Ghana in peacekeeping operations in Sudan, and assured of Ghana’s commitment to accompany Sudan in finding peace. The Ambassador-designate, on his part informed of an improvement in the situation and indicated that a roadmap had been drawn to restore peace. He added that his country believes in finding African solutions to African problems.

The Honourable Minister in a meeting with the Ambassador-designate of the Kingdom of Denmark, His Excellency Mr. Jakob Linulf recounted the relations between the two countries and added that Government was putting in the measures to ensure value addition to Ghana’s raw materials. He indicated Ghana’s readiness to cooperate in agriculture to ensure food security, environmental sustainability to reclaim degraded lands and restore water bodies. The Ambassador-designate said that Denmark cherishes its strategic partnership with Ghana and is committed to working in the area of development cooperation in addressing issues of climate change, clean water, among others.

He further mentioned that the two countries could consider Green Strategic Partnership in the future.

In his engagement with the High Commissioner-designate of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, His Excellency Mr. Christian Stefan Rogg, the Honourable Minister informed that Ghana was working on modernizing its economy to increase investment through economic diplomacy. The High Commissioner-designate commended Ghana for its role in promoting regional security and proposed a strategic arrangement for knowledge sharing in customs.

The High Commissioner-designate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, His Excellency Mr. Najeeb Durrani stated that his country attaches great importance to its relations with Ghana and that underpins the basis for which it reopened its Mission. He indicated that Pakistan was working on deepening its economic relations with Ghana for mutual benefit. He recalled the recent visit of a Pakistani Business Delegation to Ghana to explore bilateral trade and investment opportunities in the agricultural and agro-processing sectors and informed that there are several delegations from other sectors that are expected to embark on trade mission to Ghana in the coming days. To facilitate economic activities between the two countries, Pakistan offers an e-visa which is processed within 24-hours to Ghanaians. He informed that Pakistan was committed in offering training

programmes to Ghana. The Honourable Minister expressed the need to deepen the economic cooperation in line with Ghana’s economic diplomacy agenda.

During his interaction with the Ambassador-designate of the European Union Delegation, His Excellency Mr. Rune Skinnebach, the Honourable Minister recounted the investments made by the delegation in environmental sustainability, renewable energy, and others. The Ambassador-designate assured of the commitment of the Delegation to further strengthen its relations with Ghana.

The discussions between the Honourable Minister and the Ambassador-designate of the Kingdom of Norway, His Excellency John Mikal Kvistad, centred on capacity building in oil exploration and revenue management, continuous support to KAIPTC and the Ocean Panel initiative. The Minister and the Ambassador-designate agreed that the two countries could consider a comprehensive discussion on Blue Economy.

The Honourable Minister, in receiving the Open Letters of the Ambassador-designate of the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency Wael Fathy Ahmed, elaborated on the Government’s Big Push Agenda and the need for cooperation between relevant institutions between the two countries to work towards the agenda. In addition, the Minister and the Ambassador-designate discussed strengthening the ties between the two countries through the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation.
