Parliamentary Select Committee on Health has applauded the management of the Ho Teaching Hospital for making judicious use of its Internally Generated Funds by managing the hospital to the satisfaction of all.
During a monitoring visit by the committee, it was revealed that the hospital is self-financing 52 specialist Medical Doctors who will return to help manage the facility with their expertise.
Dr Thomas Anaba, MP for Garu, and Dr. Prince Arhin, MP for Mfantseman, expressed commendation for management for being able to build a psychiatric consulting department, a 24-hour pharmacy, a dialysis department, among many others.
On his part, the chief executive officer for Ho Teaching Hospital, Dr John Tampuori, however, called on stakeholders in the health sector to develop a policy strong enough for tertiary health care in the country.
According to him, when it is defined, you will then know the kind of infrastructure, equipment, human resources, etc, to manage such facilities. He put this before the members of the health committee of parliament as part of their regional monitoring and visit to the various regional hospitals in the country.
