The announcement was made during the graduation ceremony of Regular Career Course 63 at the Ghana Military Academy in Accra. Addressing the audience, Mahama emphasized the pressing need for decent and affordable housing for members of the military.

“One of our top priorities will be ensuring that troops have access to adequate and affordable housing,” he said. “We plan to construct additional housing units within military barracks and renovate existing but deteriorating and unused facilities across the country.”

He stressed the importance of dignified living conditions for all service members and revealed plans for a new Armed Forces Home Ownership Scheme. The initiative will provide both active and retired military personnel the opportunity to acquire private homes.

“Beyond improving accommodation in the barracks, this home ownership scheme will empower service men and women to own homes of their own,” he explained.

The proposed scheme is expected to build on ongoing infrastructure improvements within the Armed Forces and significantly boost morale among troops nationwide.
