The Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has inaugurated the new Board of Ghana Goldbod Jewellery Limited formerly PMMC Jewellery.
Led by Sammy Gyamfi (Chairman), the 5-member board will steer efforts to add value to Ghana’s gold and make the state-owned company a leader in Africa’s jewellery market.
The board also includes Gertrude Emefa Donkor, Dr. Edem Cudjoe Amengor, Richard Kwamina Prah, and Adwoa Amankwaah Boateng Appiah.
Deputy Minister Ampem praised Goldbod’s impact, saying Ghana can now “count its gold” and curb smuggling. He urged the new board to drive local interest in Made-in-Ghana gold jewellery.
Chairman Sammy Gyamfi assured that the restructured company backed with 30,000,000 Cedis for retooling and rebranding will focus on melting and refining Ghana’s gold and training artisans to grow the local gold industry.
“Goldbod Jewellery will be Ghana’s pride the No. 1 jewellery company in Africa,” he said.
