Police Officer interdicted, referred to Professional Standards Bureau for assaulting Journalist

The Ghana Police Service has taken swift action against an officer who allegedly assaulted a GHOne TV reporter at the ongoing election in 19 polling stations in the Ablekuma North constituency.

Statement issued by the service said, “The Ghana Police Service has monitored a viral video in which one of our officers is seen assaulting a reporter”, and that the officer concerned has been withdrawn from the ongoing election duty at Ablekuma North; and in line with internal disciplinary procedures, he has been interdicted and referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for investigation.

Below is the statement:

According to the letter, “We would like to assure the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the matter and further updates will be communicated.
