Pre-burial service for former MP for Hohoe Bernice Adiku Heloo comes off in Parliament on 10th April 2025

The final funeral rites of the former MP for Hohoe, former Deputy Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation with pre-burial service commencing on 10th April 2025 at the Court Yard, Parliament House, Accra.

The funeral as arranged by the family are as Follows: Lying in state and pre-burial service (Parliament House) on Thursday,10th April at Court Yard at 8.00 am.

The body will later move to Hohoe by 11 am to Hohoe to be laid in state on Friday, 11th April 2025, at Pro-link Premises, Hohoe, from 3.00pm for public viewing.

The Burial Service will commence at Hohoe on Saturday, 12th April 2025, at E.P. Park, Hohoe at 9.00 am.

The Memorial and Thanksgiving Service will be held at Hohoe on Sunday, 13th April 2025, at Agape Global Evangelical Church at 9.00 am and another Memorial and Thanksgiving Service in Accra on Sunday, 20th April 2025 at Mary Mother of Good Counsel Catholic Church, West Airport Area at 9.00 am.

The family, sorrowfully invites all to come and mourn with them as they bid farewell to Dr. Bernice Afi Adiku Heloo, former Member of Parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.

*Brief about Dr. Bernice Afi Adiku Heloo*

Bernice Afi Adiku Heloo, born on 24 September 1954 – 25 December 2024, was a visionary leader, compassionate advocate, and dedicated servant of her community.

Born in Hohoe, Volta Region, to Rev. E. T. Adiku and Comfort Adiku, she grew to become a trailblazer whose life was defined by service and empowerment.

Her educational journey was marked by excellence, beginning at Mawuli School and OLA Girls’ Secondary School. She earned a BA in the Study of Religions and an MPhil in Adult Education from the University of Ghana, an M.Ed. in Literacy for Rural Development from the University of Manchester, and a Doctorate in Political Economy from the Swiss Management Center University.

Bernice’s professional life was deeply rooted in advocacy.

She founded Prolink, a Ghanaian NGO supporting vulnerable populations, and served as the president of the Society for Women and AIDS in Africa.

Her work uplifted countless lives and addressed pressing social challenges with compassion and tenacity.
As a Member of Parliament for Hohoe Constituency from 2013 to 2021, and as Deputy Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Bernice championed policies for sustainable development and community welfare.

Madam Bernice’s commitment to public service earned her the respect of her peers and the people she served.

Bernice Afi Heloo passed away on 25 December 2024 at the age of 70, leaving behind legacies of leadership, love, and dedication.

She is survived by her children—Amma Gatty, Kwabena Yeboah, Ewoenam Heloo, and Bernice Akpene Heloo—as well as her husband, Dr. Dela Heloo.

Her life story continues to inspire all who knew her.
