The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Professor Ransford Gyampo, has been named among Africa’s 100 Most Influential Trailblazers at the Titan of Africa Awards 2025.

The ceremony, held on Saturday, 30th August 2025 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, recognized exceptional leaders whose work has had “a profound impact across the African continent.”

In the award citation, Prof. Gyampo was described as having demonstrated “an extraordinary commitment to driving progress, improving governance, and enhancing the quality of life in your country and beyond.” His selection, the organizers said, affirms his status as “one of the leading lights in Africa’s ongoing business and socio-economic renaissance” and a “role model for excellence and innovation in his field.”

The recognition comes at a time when Prof. Gyampo has been spearheading bold reforms in Ghana’s shipping and logistics sector. Under his leadership, GSA secured a Bank of Ghana directive to stop shipping lines from applying arbitrary exchange rates in their billing, a decision that has saved shippers from unfair charges and brought greater transparency to the trade.

He has also been vocal about the timely completion of phase 1 of the Boankra Inland Port project, stressing its importance for extending port services to Ghana’s middle and northern belts as well as her landlocked neighbours, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. In his view, the project will open a new chapter in regional trade facilitation.

The Titan of Africa award places Prof. Gyampo among an elite group of individuals celebrated for transforming their sectors and shaping Africa’s growth story. For him, the honour is not just personal but also a testament to the work of GSA in building efficient, competitive, and sustainable shipping systems.

“This recognition inspires us to do more for our country and the continent. Ghana’s shippers deserve fairness, efficiency, and innovation, and we are determined to deliver that,” he said in remarks made on his behalf at the awards ceremony.

The event brought together influential leaders in business, governance, and entrepreneurship from across Africa, providing a platform for dialogue on the future of trade and investment on the continent.
