Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister for Health, has sworn in members of the Governing Board of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
The Minister, while administering the oath of office and secrecy to the board members in line with the Ghana Medical Trust Fund Act, 2025, urged them to uphold integrity, confidentiality, and commitment in executing their mandate.
He expressed concern over the rising rate of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), which account for about 43–45% of deaths nationwide, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts to address the trend.
According to Hon. Akandoh, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund will promote fairness in the distribution of specialists, diagnostic services, and health resources nationwide, while supporting training institutions, improving infrastructure, and strengthening accountability in healthcare delivery.
“I am confident that under the capable leadership of Mr Tony Lithur and the collective expertise of the new Board, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund will make a lasting impact on our nation’s health system,” the Minister stated.
The chairman, Mr Tony Lithur on behalf of the board, pledged to work diligently to advance equitable access to quality healthcare across the country.
