The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George (MP), has reaffirmed the Government of Ghana’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investments in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.
He emphasized the country’s ambition to become a leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure and innovation on the African continent.
“AI is one of the key areas where we aim to position Ghana as a continental leader and a serious player in the global technology race,” Hon. George stated during a high-level meeting with a delegation from Firnal Inc., a U.S.-based infrastructure and data technology company.
Led by President Mr. Abdullah Adam Syed, the Firnal Inc. delegation met with the Minister to explore collaborative opportunities in Ghana’s evolving digital economy.
Firnal Inc. is known for its expertise in next-generation data center development, including AI-ready infrastructure, high-performance computing environments, and sovereign cloud solutions for both public and private sectors.
Highlighting Ghana’s ICT readiness, the Minister noted, “There is a need for investment in this area to support the rapid digitalisation journey in Ghana and we welcome Firnal as a partner as a reflection of our strong foundation for digital transformation.” He invited Firnal Inc. to partner closely with the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) to ensure alignment with national policy and international best practices.
The meeting underscored shared interests in advancing secure, scalable, and energy-efficient data infrastructure, with particular emphasis on AI capabilities, digital sovereignty, and capacity-building.
Accompanying Mr. Syed were Firnal, Inc.’s local partner OMNI Strategies LTD; represented by their CEO, Dr. Francis Blay, Ing. Dr. Collins Yeboah-Afari; Director General of Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, a Research and Innovations agency under MoCDTI, Mr. Francis Enyan, a consultant to the project and Mr. Isaac Ofori, Director of Operations, Firnal Africa, all of whom expressed confidence in Ghana’s potential as a strategic hub for AI and digital infrastructure in Africa.
