On 30th July, 2025, in Akwatia, it was a solemn yet hopeful atmosphere filled the air as members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gathered to mark a significant milestone in their journey. The occasion was the official selection of Solomon Asumadu, affectionately known as ‘King Solomon,’ as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the upcoming Akwatia by-election.

This moment was more than a political appointment; it was a tribute to the enduring legacy of the late Ernest Yaw Kumi, fondly remembered as the Akwatia Star Boy. Ernest’s untimely passing left a void in the hearts of many, but his spirit continues to inspire and guide the party and the community he loved.

In his address, Sammi Awuku, the MP for Akuapim North and a respected leader within the NPP, spoke passionately about the importance of unity and purpose during this challenging period. He emphasized that Solomon Asumadu embodies the qualities of dedication and service necessary to carry forward Ernest’s vision and to lead Akwatia into a brighter future.

“I pray that wherever Ernest is, his spirit will guide and strengthen his brother Solomon Asumadu to victory,” Awuku stated. “May Ernest’s legacy continue to inspire us all, and may his gentle spirit guide King Solomon to success and meaningful service to our people.”

As Akwatia faces a pivotal moment, the call for collective effort and solidarity has never been more urgent. The constituency needs unity, purpose, and resilience to navigate these difficult times and emerge stronger.

The community is encouraged to rally behind Solomon Asumadu, whose mission is to honor the past, serve the present, and build a future filled with hope and progress. With faith, determination, and communal support, Akwatia can overcome its challenges and realize its true potential.

Let’s stand together and support Solomon Asumadu for victory — for Akwatia, for Ernest’s legacy, and for a brighter tomorrow.
