The Member of Parliament for Ketu North Edem Agbana has committed 50% of his monthly salary to fund scholarships as he officially launched the Ketu North scholarship Prograame dubbed Edem Agbana Scholarship Scheme with the first cohort of the three hundred and two (302) students of his constituency pursuing various programmes at the tertiary level of education.
To ensure the sustainability of this programme, the MP said has personally committed to dedicating 50% of his monthly salary to fund the scholarship to ensure that the scholarship continues to serve the students year after year, “but beyond my commitment, the success of this programme relies on the continued generosity and involvement of all of us. It is through continuous donations and contributions that we will be able to grow this fund and provide more opportunities for our students”.
The Edem Agbana Scholarship Scheme is under the theme: Moving Ketu North Forward Together; Education, the Foundation of Growth.
The first cohort of the three hundred two (302) students, said, “Twenty-two (22) persons with disabilities are receiving 100% funding, ensuring that they too have equal opportunities to succeed.
Additionally, twenty-five (25) young women pursuing studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) will also receive 100% funding”.
He also provided three (3) students with laptops to aid in their academic endeavors whereas the remaining students received between 60% to 80% funding, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their educational pursuits.
Speaking at official launching of Ketu North scholarship Prograame dubbed Edem Agbana Scholarship Scheme on Sunday, 2nd March 2025 at the Municipal Assembly Hall, Dzodze, Mr. Agbana announced that, he is looking ahead, to ask the board to place a special emphasis on STEM, professional, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the second edition of the scholarship programme and that, “these fields are critical to the future growth and development of our community, and we must ensure that our students are well-equipped with the skills necessary to thrive in these important areas”.
The MP used the occasion to urge the beneficiaries to make the most of this opportunity and remember that this scholarship is not just financial assistance—it is a call to excel, “it is a symbol of the belief that l, your community, and your nation have in you. The responsibility is now yours to honor this opportunity through hard work, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence”.

This scholarship scheme is designed specifically for tertiary students from Ketu North to cover essential education costs, including tuition fees, textbooks, and other academic expenses with the believe that every student, regardless of their background or financial status, desires, the chance to pursue their academic dreams and reach their full potential.
He however, acknowledged the challenges with the first edition of the scholarship programme “However, as we prepare for the second edition, we will address and improve upon the rough edges to ensure it is even better and more impactful. This current cohort of 302 students is just the beginning. These are the students we have officially and openly selected, but there are dozens of others whom we are supporting outside the scheme as well”.
