The Volta Region’s representative on the Council of State
Gabriel Kwamigah Atokple, also known as Chief Tanko, has donated food items to sea erosion victims at the southern parts of the Volta Region.
The donation ceremony took place at Weta residence, on Tuesday, 20th May, 2025, and the items included bags of rice, sugar, boxes of spaghetti, and cooking oil.
These items were handed over to Dodzi Kofi Aidam, Deputy Regional Director of NADMO; Vacus Dogbe, Regional Operations Officer of NADMO; and Kumawu Sylvester, the Assembly Member for Amutinu/Salakope in recognition of the fact, their dedicated efforts have been vital in coordinating disaster response and relief efforts in the affected areas.
In his Facebook wall, Mr. Atokple said, “today, I had the honor of donating relief supplies to support victims of the recent tidal waves that ravaged parts of Agavedzi, Amutinu/Salakope, and nearby communities in the Volta Region”.
He said this gesture was in his humble way of showing solidarity with families who have lost their homes, belongings, and daily comforts due to nature’s fury- “I appreciate NADMO and the Assembly Member for their commitment to ensuring that aid reaches those most in need”.
“This moment reminds us that in times of crisis, community support and compassion are our strongest assets. To all residents of these affected areas—brothers, sisters, parents, and grandparents—you are not alone. Together, we will rebuild, recover, and rise above these challenges”.
