Ghana and Kosmos Energy are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pave the way for oil exploration and production, as the company commits to investing $2 billion in the country’s upstream industry.
This was announced by Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, during the Africa Energy Forum, a technical session of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) held in Texas, USA.
The Minister underscored the critical importance of energy security and called for decisive action to ensure energy accessibility and affordability across the African continent.
At this high-level event, GIPC CEO, Mr. Simon Madjie, moderated discussions featuring senior executives and regulators from various African countries. The conversations explored strategies to attract investment, enhance local content, and navigate the complexities of the global energy transition.
The Africa Energy Forum served as a vital platform for dialogue on how Africa can harness its natural resources to position itself in the global shift toward cleaner energy, while continuing to sustain oil and gas development.
