The Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, in partnership with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), at a media briefing in Accra to highlight ongoing efforts to strengthen immunization programs and ensure equitable access to life-saving vaccines across the country, made these known.

The Ministry and GAVI, together with the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and the World Bank, reaffirmed their joint commitment to protecting every child and enhancing sustainable health and immunization financing in Ghana.

In his opening remarks, the Minister for Health, Mr. Mintah Akandoh, expressed appreciation for GAVI’s continued support and partnership in enhancing healthcare systems, particularly in reaching underserved communities.

The Chief Executive Officer of GAVI, Dr. Sania Nishtar, delivered a joint statement with the Ministry of Health, stressing GAVI’s continued support for vaccine financing, local and regional manufacturing, and access to essential health commodities vital for public health and national development.

“We agree to support and advocate for the full replenishment of GAVI’s next strategic period, which will be critical to ensure continued support and partnership to save children’s lives in Ghana and across Africa,” Dr. Nishtar stated.

She further indicated that all partners involved will collaborate to sustain, support, and safeguard the country’s progress toward achieving free, universal primary healthcare.
